DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY
MGM MEDICAL COLLEGE, INDORE.

  1. Details of CME program
  2. Conducted CME for nursing staff for Biomedical waste management every 15 days for 11/2 year in MY Hospital.
  3. Organized refresher training programme for HIV for technicians of ICTC & SRL from districts
  4. Organized  2 days training programme for nursing staff of district hospital for HIV  (conducted four times.)
  5. Organized training programme for leprosy for technician of district hospital and M.G.M. medical colleges.and other Medical colleges.
  6. Organized various training programme for swine flu and dengue for medical officer, staff nurses , Civil Surgeons and technicians of health department
  7. Submitted a thesis of “Study of prevalance of Neonatal septicemia with Antibiotic Susceptibility in a large Tertiary Care Hospital ” as a M.Sc. Medical Microbiology Project.
  8. Given various projects to undergraduate students on different topics as a part of Internal Assessment Programme.
  9. Dr. Anita Mutha Prof & head department of Microbiology received award from collector Indore on 26th Jan 2010 for best services given to institution.
  10. ICMR Project ( ongoing ) on Prevalence of Hospital acquired infection in District Hospital of Madhya Pradesh in collaboration of PSM department.

COURSES CONDUCTED:
Teaching – MBBS, BDS, BPT, B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Nursing (IGNOU), CMLT and other paramedical courses.

•  IGNOU Certificate Course in Health Care Waste Management (CHCWM).
•  M.Sc. (Medical Microbiology) proposed and will be starting soon.

FACILITIES OFFERED:

Bacteriology

  1. Microscopy, culture & sensitivity
  2. Water testing, Mycology, O.T. Swab culture
  3. Serology: Widal, VDRL, ASO, HBsAg, Pregnancy, RA, CRP and Dengue. HIV testing.
  4. Parasitology: Gastrointestinal parasitic protozeum detection by microscopy.

OTHER INFORMATION

Department of Microbiology separated from Department of Pathology in 1995 after that the department is running independently.

Programmes going in the department:

  1. VCCTC (Voluntary confidential counseling and testing centre) for HIV / AIDS. Counseling and testing for high risk.
  2. PPTCT (Prevention of parent to child transmission in HIV / AIDS): HIV testing and counseling of ANC.
  3. RNTCP (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme).
  4. ART Centre: Microbiology input Antiretroviral therapy for HIV / AIDS and provides diagnostic input.
  5. Hospital Infection Control Programme: Biomedical waste management, continuous workshop for all HCW, Infection Control practices.
